A resourceful couple getting married on a budget had the ultimate DIY wedding cake at their reception, and it only cost them $50 bucks to throw together.
The cake was the idea of Jessica Hoyle-King, the sister of the groom, after the couple asked her to help plan their wedding, according to FOX News. The pair hoped to stay on a tight budget in order to save for their honeymoon trip to Italy.
Rather than freezing cupcakes for the reception, Hoyle-King suggested the couple get two $19 Costco sheet cakes instead, which they cut up, stacked, re-frosted and topped with $10 flowers from Trader Joe’s. The end result? a gorgeous four-tier wedding cake that cost under $50.
“Beautiful on a budget,” Hoyle-King captioned a photo of the cake on social media, and we couldn’t agree more.
